WASC Accreditation

READ Academy of Sacramento is a WASC-accredited California private school serving students in grades 2-12.

Our Accreditation

Wasc Accredited School Read Academy

READ Academy holds full accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). This accreditation confirms that our school meets established standards for educational quality, curriculum, and student support while maintaining our specialized focus on dyslexia education.

WASC accreditation involves ongoing self-evaluation and regular reviews by trained educators who visit our campus, observe our classrooms, and assess student outcomes. This accountability helps ensure we continue to grow and improve as a school community.

What is WASC?

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges is one of six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. ACS WASC accredits over 5,500 public and private schools across California, Hawaii, Asia, and the Pacific region. The organization works closely with the California Department of Education and the University of California system.

Why Accreditation Matters

Transcript Recognition

Colleges, universities, and other schools recognize academic credits from WASC-accredited institutions. The University of California system requires WASC accreditation for schools to maintain approved a-g course lists. When your student is ready for their next chapter, their work at READ Academy is recognized.

Credit Transfer

If your family relocates or your child transitions to another school, credits earned at READ Academy transfer. Accreditation protects your child’s academic progress.

Quality Assurance

Accreditation provides independent verification that our programs meet established educational standards. Outside peer reviewers evaluate our curriculum, instruction, and student outcomes on a regular cycle.

Specialized Education, Accredited Standards

READ Academy combines the accountability of full accreditation with specialized instruction designed for dyslexic learners. Our teachers hold certifications in structured literacy programs including Wilson Reading System and Orton-Gillingham methodologies. We use Making Math Real for mathematics instruction. Our small class sizes maintain a 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio.

Accreditation confirms we meet the standards expected of any quality educational institution. Our specialized approach to dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia is what sets us apart.
