We found READ Academy after our emergency IEP failed to address our child’s lack of progress in learning to read, write and do math. Our child had been suffering emotionally and we were concerned. NGL the first week was rough, but the adults at school rolled with a rocky transition, And they didn’t make us feel bad. Now we are more than a school year in. We have a carpool with a couple other students and we are seeing this little group thriving. Dyslexic kids are wonderful, special people and we are so, so grateful to be here. Much love to the staff. As a new school, there are growing pains. Fortunately, we feel welcome to communicate with administration and teachers to improve things as they come up. Finally, I look forward to seeing the dyslexia community become closer, in part, because of this school.

This place has been the best experience for my son. More growth in one month than two years of our assigned district school. Whether or not your child has a dyslexia diagnosis, but is below grade level performance standards, send them to Read. Reach out to education advocates and/or lawyers. There are ways to afford the tuition. Make it happen for your kid. Literacy is a right and unfortunately the public school system does not guarantee this. Make it happen for your kid.

I am writing this to express my sincerest gratitude for all the help and support you have provided to my daughter, Autumn. Your school has been a blessing for her, especially after struggling for so long with dyslexia in a public school. Since Autumn joined your school, she has made incredible progress, both academically and personally. She feels comfortable and happy at your school, and her self-esteem has greatly improved. I cannot thank you enough for the care and attention you have given to my daughter. I am especially grateful to Mrs. Shelley, who has been a great source of inspiration and motivation for Autumn. She adores all her teachers and looks forward to attending school every day. Thank you, Leah, for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your school. We appreciate all the help and support you have given us along the way. Your dedication and commitment to your students’ success are truly admirable, and we are grateful for everything you have done for Autumn.

Our son who has dyslexia was struggling as a fourth grader, to say the least, with Common Core teaching in our local elementary school. Currently as a fifth grader, he is thriving at Read Academy of Sacramento. His confidence is growing not only in reading and writing, but he is also trusting in his learning environment. Our only regret is we didn’t enroll our son earlier in Read Academy.

Sacramento has a school for children with dyslexia and they “get it”. My husband found this school by google searching while I was preparing for another useless IEP meeting. A month later my kid is being taught by people who understand him and have resources and authority to adjust to his needs. I am so grateful.

Our 7th grader has been attending Read Academy for less than two months and we’ve already seen a massive sea-change in his personality and outlook. He’s not only happier he has more confidence about his academic abilities. He sees himself as a good student now, and he’s developed good homework habits. We don’t even have to remind him to do his homework anymore. He’s excited to tell us about what he’s learning at school, which he didn’t do when he was in public school and he was just struggling to keep up. He used to be so withdrawn and overwhelmed that he could barely engage in conversation with us, but now he’s eager to talk to us at dinner about ideas and science and history. Thank you for giving our happy child back to us, Read Academy!

Rylan had previously attended Read Academy for tutoring, but since becoming a full-time student in November 2025, I have seen such a big difference in him in such a short amount of time. He came in with very little confidence in himself academically, and I’ve watched that confidence grow along with his reading. He has matured, learned to advocate for himself more, and he can even recognize for himself that he is reading better. The staff has been amazing, they genuinely care about him and are invested in his progress and success. As his mom, seeing the growth he has made both academically and in how he sees himself has meant so much to me.

My daughter has grown so much in the month that she has been at READ. Her confidence in her ability to learn and even explain the things she is learning. She was experiencing head aches, stomach issues on a daily basis, since being at READ we have not had any head aches or stomach aches. She is excited daily to go to school and be a part of a community that understands her, where as previously every day was a struggle to go to school. Teachers have been so welcoming and encouraging in each step for her. They respond timely to each email and are encouraging to myself and Abby.

When we first toured the school our daughter was very resisten to the change. Now that she has been there for the summer program, as well as, a regular school year she LOVES it. She has gone from not wanting to go to school, to thriving. Her confidence is higher, not just in school, but also socially. The small class sizes are imperative for learning intervention to work. The reading teachers knowledge and curriculum is so strong. The classes are engaging. The staff is warm, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. I cannot recommend READ Academy enough!

Amazing! I am so impressed. My son, Grayson, loves going to school again and is excelling. Grayson’s confidence is back.

Transitioning from Homeschool to Read Academy, I thought it was going to be a very hard transition for the both of us. However, it was a very smooth and easy transition. My son Caleb absolutely love’s Read Academy, his Teachers, Friends, and the Administration ! Prior to Read Academy Caleb was very shy, withdrawn struggled with reading and was very quiet. Just after 1yr, my son has grown by leaps and bounds socially, academically and as an independent learner. Caleb and I both love the Read staff and the Wilson Learning program. I wished, I would have discovered Wilson’s Learning Program and Read Academy years ago as it would have taken the struggle out of reading for my son. My son has went from, struggling to read to reading with ease by the end of his first year at Read. Now, my son loves to reads and absolutely loves to go to Barnes & Nobles to get new books! We owe everyone at Read Academy a very big Thank You for helping Calebs to grow beyond his limits!!

After a year in the day program, my daughter has blossomed, improving academically and behaviorally while developing self-confidence and independence. She has gone from feeling frustrated and helpless to enthusiastic. She has gone from avoiding reading, guessing words, and making spelling errors such as spelling swim “siwm” to learning the logic of the English reading and spelling. I can tell that the teachers and staff care about her and sincerely view us parents as partners which is a huge deal. They provide excellent reading and writing support but also understand that many dyslexic children need support in other areas as well, which they happily provide.

My daughter attended Read Academy for two years as a freshman and sophomore as well as summer school. It made all the difference in helping her get caught up to grade level in reading and writing. She then transferred to a local charter high school and will be going to college next year. I highly recommend Read Academy and am so grateful in helping our daughter become the student she is today!

This is honestly the best school ever for a child with dyslexia! I’m so glad I found it! My son has dramatically improved in every aspect of his growth and education since enrolling here.

Since our son started going to The, Read Academy, his behavior has improved his reading and writing has improved tremendously. The teachers and staff are amazing.

My grandson continues to learn and make progress, and more importantly likes going to school now whereas before READ Academy he loathed going to school.

Enjoy the constant communication with the school. After 3 weeks, I see a substantial improvement in how my son approaches his education and he is sharing how he learns with us.

So far my experience has been great with the READ Academy. My son has made some great strides within the 2 months he’s been attending the school. I look forward to seeing how far he’s grown at the end of the school year.

Just visit… watch the teachers interact with the students in the classroom. They just love these kids- they nurture them. From the first call with Ms. Shelly at the front and tutoring to Leah with her kind words and encouragement and insight to education My kid regained his educational spark and loved it there. Even the pick up lines are run efficiently and with care! Just Amazing

I am so thankful for Read Academy. After moving from Atlanta, where my son was in a OG based dyslexic school I was having a hard time finding a school that stayed current on all the new breakthroughs in DYSLEXIA. Having a child diagnosed “twice exceptional”. I needed to find a school where dyslexic based reading skills would know only be taught in reading but continue throughout all the subjects. We also required a school that keep him active in Math, Science. The staff and teachers not only have the continuing education regarding dyslexia but they understand that each student is unique with different abilities. They used evidence-based curriculum and techniques to bring each student to their highest potential. We drive 35-45 mins each way, because it is best school for my student.

I was a student here for 2 years and all the people and teachers were so kind! They value your education so much, and their way of teaching is so inclusive and needed. I learned so much from this school and if you are you dyslexic, this is the BEST WAY TO GET HELP, hands down, please go here :)

My son started at READ in January 2021. Opening Day! For the first time in his academic experience (he’s 11), he has a lot to tell me about how he’s learning and what he’s learning. He’s really thriving. He’s eager to go to school, engaged with what and how he’s learning and overall a happier child. The school is following COVID protocols so well. I feel like they are all very careful.

Couldn’t be happier with the curriculum and staff. They work with each individual student and ensure they are getting the help they require!!!

Great school, teachers and staff. This school has been a great fit for our son. The school staff is also very good about communicating. My only suggestion is if we could have more electives, like art, for the students.

Even though our kid started late this year, we are happy our kid was welcomed at READ. Thank you Leah for making my daughter’s transition smooth. We look forward to the new school year.
